Doublewide
DoubleWide is a fun and folksy Americana duo based in Sisters, Oregon consisting of husband and wife team Sue and Rick Moore. Sue plays guitar, bass, and fiddle. Rick plays mandolin, guitar, and mandola. They weave their original music and cover tunes together with lots of traditional and soulful harmonies, and darn good pickin’. Doublewide has been featured on the Oregon Bluegrass Association showcase at Wintergrass in 2023 and 2024 and was excited to make their BetsieFest debut in 2023. Rick and Sue have been making music together for over 40 years – their first encounter in graduate school being “you play guitar”?
Shorty & the Mustangs
Shorty & the Mustangs was formed in 1996. Big Tex called some of his musician friends to see if they wanted to try something new. Having grown up in Texas, western swing music was calling him home. So they dug out some old Bob Wills and Ernest Tubb records and gave it a shot. For the last 10 years the band has created original material with Mr’s Wills and Tubb as inspiration.
Josh Cole
Josh Cole has been playing bluegrass in the Pacific Northwest for over 25 years. It started in the late 90s when he first heard “Midnight Moonlight” from Old and In the Way. That moment forever bonded Josh to bluegrass music. He went on to serve as President of the Oregon Bluegrass Association and continues to host “Music From the True Vine” on KBOO-FM, the longest-running bluegrass show West of the Mississippi.
Josh’s influences include Ralph Stanley, Larry Sparks, and Bill Monroe, many of whom are featured on the Josh Cole Bluegrass Show, his podcast with nearly 200 episodes of traditional bluegrass recordings. Josh has played in dozens of bands, along with running his own hard-driving bluegrass band for nearly two decades. That’s why hometown fans have lovingly nicknamed him “The Elvis of Portland Bluegrass.”
Rhapsody in Red
Rhapsody in Red is a musical tribute to Jerry Garcia. Performing songs from Jerry’s vast musical catalog, the band fuses their individual musicianship with a great love for that iconic Jerry style and musicality. Come out and enjoy tunes performed by these longtime “Jerry-inspired musicians”. Whether you attended hundreds of Jerry Garcia shows, or have only been listening to his recordings, Rhapsody in Red will leave you feeling like he is still here.
The Buds of May Revival
The Buds of May Revival play a vast variety of classic hits from Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and go deep with BBQ flavored improvisational Grateful Dead style jams. The dance floor is always packed with grooving smiles and good vibes.
Buds of May Revival includes original members Scrafford Orser on lead guitar, Bruce Warner on lead Bass, Josh Cole on lead Mandolin and Chaz Holmes on lead drums. The original buds are joined by “Steely” Pete Burak on lead banjo, John Harris on lead washboard, brought together by John Q. Porter on lead rhythm guitar, vocals and merch.
